The Festival of Lights marks the beginning of our experience of spiritual reality ~ the war of the Maccabees and the Greeks, the Hanukkah miracle, the candle, light, oil, and wick ~ all connect our spirituality. Our family celebrates this festive holiday each night by gathering around our menorah after dinner and singing Hanukkah song together. We let the children light the candles and celebrate the festival of lights with little trinkets they get to open. It has become our wonderful tradition that really gets everyone psyched for the holiday season. Twirling the dreidel, watching the beautiful candles dance and flicker, and enjoying our sweet treats together for 8 delightful evenings keeps our joyous spirits alive and we become modern day Maccabees in our hearts once again 💙
